We custom manufacture solid wood French Doors available in oak, poplar, cherry, walnut, hickory, and ash in a variety of styles.
Also known as French windows, these doors consist of vertical stiles, top and bottom rails, and divided glass panels instead of wooden.
The glass panels are often referred to as lights (lites), or panes, and are traditionally constructed as separate pieces of glass inserted into mullions (muttons).
Glass selections range from single pane flat clear tempered to grooved glass to beveled double glazed insulated, and are just a few examples of the number of choices available.
With the advent of todays multiple glass types, French door units are fast becoming the norm in exterior door applications.
Mahogany and White Oak are very good species of wood to be used for exterior applications. Combined with insulated glass, a good finishing (sealing and staining) process, a sound threshold, correct installation procedure, and a proper overhang, these door units will yield many years of function and beauty.
French doors, regardless of interior or exterior application, can be constructed with a wide variety of materials. Steel, fiberglass, MDF (multi density fiberboard), and wood, cover the majority of manufacturing materials used in the framing and mullion construction.
From Ash to Zebrawood, wood of virtually any type can be used in the manufacturing process.
